Our language academy focuses on speaking, communication and preparing you for daily life in Japan. Through interactive classes and practical excursions, you’ll quickly improve your ability to communicate efficiently in Japanese. What it's about

Let's be honest

Mastering a language takes years, but being able to communicate on a basic level can be achieved in just a few weeks.

Our classes concentrate on practicality.

Each week, we will practice different real-life situations and learn how to respond effectively. You will learn basic Japanese grammar, vocabulary, but most importantly, you will gain the confidence to communicate in Japanese.

Focus on Speaking & Communication
Reading and writing skills can be developed independently, but speaking requires interaction and practice with others. Our class prioritizes speaking, pronunciation, and grammar, and we also provide homework assignments to improve reading and writing. This approach will help you to improve your speaking skills, build fluency and gain confidence in the Japanese language.
Learn real-life, practical Japanese inside and outside the classroom
At Zentern’s Language Academy, you will learn a different topic every week. This will allow you to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Japanese language and culture. Our classes are designed to teach you the language skills you need to communicate effectively in real-life situations. You will also learn about Japanese culture, customs, and traditions to gain a deeper understanding of the country and its people. With the variety of topics covered each week, you will have an engaging and well-rounded learning experience.
Every Week a Different Topic
Every week, we cover a variety of topics to make learning fun and help you get a better understanding of the Japanese language. Our classes are designed to teach you the language skills you will need to communicate effectively in real-life situations. You will also learn about Japanese culture, customs, and traditions to gain a deeper understanding of the country and its people.

How it works

Choose your duration

The program has a minimum of 8-weeks (4-weeks language and 4-weeks internship) and a maximum of 24-weeks.

Start lessons

There are no set dates, you can start and join classes every Monday of the week.

Start Internship

Your internship starts the Monday after you have completed your language course.

What a week looks like

Mondays - Learn

On this day, you will learn grammar, vocabulary, and how the language works.

You will also explore different aspects of Japanese culture and daily life that will help you to better understand how the language is used.

Homework will be handed out to reinforce what you learn.

Example:
Topic: Shopping
- Ask if a store has what you are looking for 
- Ask for the price of something you want to buy
- Request what you would like from a store

Study Japanese

Tuesdays - Review

It is time to output everything you learned on Monday.
It might sound a bit overwhelming but we are here to help you.

During class we have roleplaying opportunities and the teacher will assist you with all your questions and concerns.

Wednesdays - Practice

Meet and talk to Japanese in authentic situations and settings. You will get the opportunity to practice your Japanese right away in a real-life setting.

Example:
- Order and buy something from a convenience store
- Order that delicious-looking seasonal drink at Starbucks

We understand it might be a bit nerve-racking but your Japanese teacher will be with you at all times to help out if needed.

What's included

Guaranteed Internship Placement

To ensure you get valuable, hands-on work experience, we strictly screen companies. No coffee runs (unless you're in need of caffeine) or copying boring paperwork. Dodgy internships in Japan will never happen with Zentern and your internship placement is guaranteed.

Japanese language classes 3-days per week

Languages classes are taught by a professional Japanese teacher and there is English support in case things get lost in translation. Classes can be online and are from 10:00 - 14:00, leaving you enough time to explore Tokyo and most importantly, do your homework!

All Japanese language lesson materials, books and more

Everything you need is included in the fee. You just need to bring your notebook, a pen and/or laptop. Easy!

Language-related events

Meet locals, internationals and other Zenterns through our language exchange events. A great opportunity to practice what you've learnt so far!

First Day Assistance

Your first day of the internship can be stressful. We offer you assistance and guide you to your office on your first day.

24/7 Emergency Support

While uncommon, accidents do happen. We will be at your side throughout your stay in Japan. From the beginning, we ensure all Zenterns are safe and healthy.

Housing Assistance

We will take care of your accommodation in Japan and based on your preferences, you can pick from several options.

You will receive an Internship Certificate upon your internship completion.

Recommendation Letter

Your internship supervisor will be more than happy to write you a recommendation letter. Make sure to request this prior to the end of your internship.
